Run it locally first
What you’re making: the same app, but running on your machine while you work on it, so you can try changes before anyone sees them.
Plugging is fast enough that many people just plug every change. But when you want a tighter loop, or you’re on a plane, run it locally.
1. Start the app on your machine.
say: Run this locally so I can try it before we plug it.
2. Work with safe copies of your data. The dev environment can use a snapshot of your app’s data, with sensitive fields masked.
3. Make your changes and watch them appear. Edit, refresh, repeat.
4. When it’s right, plug it.
say: Looks good. Plug it in.
What just happened
You worked on your machine with the grid’s shape around you, on masked copies of real data, and went live only when you chose to.
